We were at Shiro (Cambie @ 14th) recently and at the end of the meal they usually give you a complimentary pack of Pocky or something similar. Well this recent time they gave us a small pack of "Collon". Yup. So after laughing my uh, guts, off, I opened the mystery pack and what do I find ? Little pieces of wafer rolls with gooey chocolate inside. Collon .....
ReplyDeleteHehe, yah, I've had those collon thingies. I've gotten the impression, and pardon the widesweeping generalization here, that Japanese humour reflects a generally higher comfort level with bodily functions in their culture. Or maybe I'm just pulling that out of my ass, lol. My all time favourite children's book (series) is by a Japanese author, incidentally. Everybody Poops, by Taro Gomi.
ReplyDeleteI love naeng myun, and that is pretty much what it is, though I prefer the spicy bibim naeng myun to the broth type described here. Great summer dish.
